Subject: [IML] WEB: New tutorial: modelling a head in 5 minutes
I have just posted a beginner-level tutorial aimed at giving general
hints on one way to model a human head from scratch. As I haven't had
any previous experience in this sort of modelling, feedback is
appreciated.

This was the way I made my first headmodeling tryouts to, after investing
in the excellent book "[digital] Character Animation" by George Maestri,
ISBN 1-56205-559-3, I tried to build it with the ears placed at the spheres
polar ends, there by making it much easier to make a smooth mouth, it also
made it very easy to model only half the head and the copy/mirror/merge it.
You can always add the small differences between right and left half after
the completion.

Charles,
I know not much is said here about the forms editor, but I think it is
an excellent tool to make heads. A coupla tips though, use as simple
object as possible in the forms to get the shapes and fracture and
smooth it in the detaileditor, make the cheeks, chin, and brow higher
than expected, and make eyesockets deeper, to accomodate fracturing and
smoothing in the detail editor. Create ears and nose seperately and
slice them into the face. I could probably dig up a coupla pics if
somebody wants.

Thanks Cory, your suggestions have been added (with credit, of course)
to my tutorial.

Hi. I have been working with the head tutorial this evening. It is taking
me much longer than 5 minutes, but I am getting there. BTW a tip that
Charles Blaquier posted on magnetism also worked great for this tutorial.
Shift click pts in one view the ctl click & manipulate in another view.
Very helpful. I think I will try a low poly Organica mesh on this tutorial
next. Thanks again for all the great help you are to everyone.
